History of Lost Surfboards

Also known as Lost Enterprises, the beginnings of this organization started loosely with Matt Biolos and his friend’s passion for the action sports from skating, to snowboarding, and to surfing in 1985.

The surfboard business side didn’t begin until 1987 when Matt first learned and shaped surfboards with surf shops including Herbie Fletcher and Surfglas. Matt spent several years learning the trade of shaping surfboards and paint designs. During this time, the term “Lost” was created.

Lost officially came about in 1992 when convinced by his friends, to sell the logo on an apparel line. Partnering up with his fellow business graduate friend, Mike Reola, they hustled to gain traction with the company by producing apparel and surfboards. Both guys would grow the company by learning more about the apparel, media, design, and production sides of the business to presently selling the Lost apparel, surfboard, and skateboard divisions.

“We could say “Since those wild beginnings, …Lost has spread slowly across the world.  The Company has matured internally but continues to run off the same philosophy it started with.  The Lost thinking now flows through its art, music, films, athletes and clothing” …but that sounds like some PR firm wrote that for us.  So …Lost is whatever you think it is.”
- Matt Biolos
